Overview

Central Johannesburg TVET College is inviting applications for six (6) Cleaner posts at the Central Office. The purpose of the role is to maintain a high standard of hygiene, cleanliness, and infection control within the facility.

The successful candidates must be physically fit, willing to rotate across departments as required, and able to perform repetitive cleaning tasks in line with occupational health and safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

• ABET / Standard 8 / Grade 10
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills
• Experience in a cleaning environment will be advantageous

Inherent Requirements:

• Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects
• Willingness to rotate between departments and sites
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Knowledge of hygiene standards and storage requirements
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and machinery
• Good communication skills (read, speak and write)
• Knowledge of relevant policies, legislation and procedures
• Adherence to ethical and loyal service standards

Key Duties

• Support the supervisor with cleaning operations
• Maintain neatness and hygiene standards in the facility
• Implement infection control policies
• Perform effective cleaning and maintenance of equipment
• Use cleaning consumables in a cost-effective manner
• Manage waste effectively

Cleaning Responsibilities Include:

• Cleaning offices, corridors, elevators and boardrooms
• Dusting and waxing furniture
• Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing and vacuuming floors
• Cleaning walls, windows and surfaces
• Emptying and washing waste bins
• Removing waste paper and refuse
• Cleaning kitchens, including basins and utensils
• Cleaning restrooms and refilling soap, toilet paper and hand towels
• Maintaining cleaning materials and reporting broken equipment
• Cleaning machinery such as microwaves and vacuum cleaners
• Requesting cleaning supplies when required
