Overview

RCL Foods is seeking a motivated and responsible General Worker for a 3-month Fixed Term Contract within the Beverages division in Pretoria West.

The successful candidate will report to the Transport Controller and will be responsible for loading and off-loading vehicles, crate handling, washing crates, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

This role requires someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Loading & Off-Loading

• Load and off-load stock at customer sites and on-site receiving areas
• Load and off-load crates at customer sites
• Ensure correct stock is delivered by verifying against invoices
• Ensure truck load bins are clean at all times

Crate & Warehouse Management

• Ensure production always has sufficient crates
• Separate clean crates from dirty crates
• Top up water in crate washer machine when necessary
• Report crate washer defects immediately
• Report pallet jack or trolley defects
• Record total crates washed per customer and report damages

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain good housekeeping standards
• Participate in safety programmes
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Wear required PPE in designated areas
• Follow confined space safety procedures
• Report food safety and quality issues immediately
• Follow all SHE (Safety, Health & Environmental) standards

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve processes
• Work shifts as required
• Assist with delivery vehicles and washing crates when operationally required

Minimum Requirements

• Matric
• Ability to read and write
• Computer literacy (advantageous)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of product handling, labelling and storage practices
• Basic mathematics and warehouse management knowledge
• Planning and coordination skills
• Knowledge of storage area control
• Understanding of safety, health and environmental standards
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Ability to follow written instructions accurately
