The City of Tshwane is recruiting General Workers for various Waste Water Collection and Water Works facilities across Region 1 and Region 4.

• Roodeplaat Water Treatment Plant (2 Posts)
• Bronkhorstspruit Water Works (2 Posts)
• Themba Water Works

Salary and Benefits

Scale: R165 564,00 – R193 476,00 per annum
Estimated Remuneration Package: R242 666,00 – R278 193,00 per annum

Job Purpose

To assist the Team Leader in the execution of wastewater collection and maintenance works, ensuring efficient repair and upkeep of sewer and water network systems.

Appointment Requirements

• Ability to perform physical duties (basic literacy required)
• Relevant experience in maintenance of wastewater collection networks will be an advantage
• Physically fit and healthy (no back problems)
• Willingness to undergo criminal record check (fingerprints at own cost via Tshwane Metro Police Department)
• Willingness to work shifts, standby and overtime when required

Primary Responsibilities

• Clear sewer blockages
• Excavate and backfill trenches using hand tools (shovels, pick axes, rakes, rammers)
• Load and unload tools, equipment and materials
• Operate water pumping equipment
• Assist with pipe alignment and repairs
• Maintain tools and equipment
• Clean work sites after job completion
• Clean depot and vehicles
• Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993)
• Perform any additional general duties as required
