Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a dedicated and experienced Store Cleaner to join the team at Blue Route Mall on a fixed-term contract. This role is essential to maintaining hygiene and cleanliness standards throughout the store, including customer areas, back office spaces, and staff facilities.
Main Purpose of the Role:
To ensure a high level of cleanliness and hygiene across all areas of the store according to Dis-Chem’s health and safety regulations and standards. This includes maintaining a tidy store floor, restrooms, stockrooms, and canteen areas.
Key Responsibilities:
-Perform daily cleaning duties across the store, ensuring high hygiene standards
-Ensure cleanliness in customer-facing and staff-only areas before store opening
-Regularly clean restrooms and ensure they are stocked with necessary products
-Maintain a clean canteen area throughout the day
-Be on-call during store hours to respond to immediate cleaning needs
-Use appropriate cleaning supplies and equipment for different tasks
-Follow Health and Safety Regulations strictly
-Display the “wet floor” sign visibly when floors are being cleaned
-Maintain a professional, friendly, and helpful attitude toward customers
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:
-Grade 12 / Matric
-At least 6 months of cleaning experience
-Strong English communication skills
-Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous:
-Bilingual (especially area-specific languages)
-Previous cleaning experience in a retail store

Special Conditions of Employment:
