Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)
The Health, Safety, and Environment Office at HKUST is seeking a dedicated professional to assist in implementing the University’s safety policies, focusing on Dangerous Goods compliance. The appointee will also support the Center for Laboratory Supplies (CLS) in managing routine procurement of chemicals and laboratory consumables.
Key duties include:
- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulations relating to usage of hazardous materials
- Managing University Central Dangerous Goods stores and warehouse
- Maintaining accurate documentation of CLS
- Assisting in system development addressing the management of hazardous materials
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders on accounting and licensing applications
- Performing any other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Applicants should have:
- A relevant degree in science or a related discipline, with at least three years of post-qualification experience in a tertiary institution; or
- At least Level 2 or equivalent in five subjects in the HKDSE or five passes in the HKCEE, including Chinese Language and English Language (min Grade C in Syllabus A or Level 2 for results obtained from 2007 onwards), with no fewer than 15 years’ working experience in a similar function
- Experience in warehouse and inventory management
- Knowledge of laboratory consumables (highly preferred)
- A valid full driving license (minimum Classes 1 and 2) (highly preferred)
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and collaborate effectively as part of a team
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua
The contract duration is 2 years, renewable. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
